Adrenalin Overdose

mood: can't-get-out-of-the-house-kinda-bored
music: HK drama serial in the background

So! Typhoon #8! No work! Extra day off! Yay!!!

Which is why I finally have the time to blog about my happenings again! Let's start with today. Basically, I couldn't get out of the house cos of the weather, and so I stayed indoors and played mahjong with my cousins. And I just thought to myself how weird this was... I mean, my CS friends are probably in school having lectures or sitting by the benches and chatting about their holiday, while ME! I was playing mahjong on a typhoon day in HK! hehehe

Getting down to the Saikung trip. My friend, who grew up at Saikung, took me for the weekend and brought me for such a wild night. I don't remember having been to Saikung, though I've been to HK so many times. He brought me to the town of Saikung, where you see the most incredible seafood market!

The wide array of seafood to choose from. Not cheap though!

And this is the seafood market by the sea, literally! So people will shout down to the aunties saying what they want and they will start bargaining. When decided, the auntie climbs up and passes the seafood to them. People can then bring these fresh seafood straight to the restaurants and get then cooked immediately. Freshness guaranteed.

Thereafter, my friend says that there's this "must-try" dessert place at Saikung that specialises in durian desserts. Any of you people who went HK for exchange ever been here?

Durian pancake, Durian ice-cream in coconut milk and grass jelly

And then comes the highlight of the night! This might sound crazy, but yes, car-racing! Friend of mine, ardent fan of cars, has a bunch of friends who kinda like races every now and then as a hobby. They are into the car-modification, racing around the hills that kinda stuff. He invited me to join them for the night and being in the "I'm on a holiday, go try everything" kinda mood, I agreed. I've not felt such exhilaration and such rush of adrenalin in a long long time. Of course I knew the dangers involved, but my friend, knowing that I felt insecure, made me feel very safe in his hands.

We drove to mid-level of a hill in Dai Po, where we saw many other car-fans standing by their cars, watching whoever races past the hill. We raced up too, and then stopped and watched others. I tell you, I felt exactly like I just stepped into the Initial-D movie. What I saw looked exactly like the movie. People challenging each other, cars drifting at the roundabout, other car-racers cheering their friends on... and then at about 1am, the police came and people dispersed.

The next day, I visited the Goldfish Market at Mongkok. I don't know why HK people are so hyped up about rearing fishes. There's a whole stretch of street that sells fishes and stuff. Is it something to do with good luck, wealth, or something?

On a different note, Since almost everyone is doing it, I had to join in the fun. Haha, here's me, doing THE Karen Cheng.

Till next post! Tata!

p.s: Having all the time in the world today, I started reading blogs. I realized I haven't been updating myself through my friends' blogs for ages. Stuffy! call out to you here! I just read all the posts during the period while I was gone. I just wanna say, no matter where I am, I am just an email away! Miss ya!
